The Day Care Service run by Sunderland Council is for adults with disabilities mental health needs and older people. People can access the service using their own finances or through using individual budgets. All referals are made through Sunderland Adult Services. The current day care charge is £52.51 per day (six hours), half days are also available.
In addition Bishopwearmouth Nursery also provides support for people who wish to access employment opportunities within Bishopwearmouth Co-operative.
For those people who are unable to move into an employment role Bishopwearmouth Nursery provides a supportive environment where people can socialise, gain confidence, develop their skills and friendships, enabling people not only to gain new interests but to also share experiences with others.
Bishopwearmouth Nursery assists people to integrate into the wider community by providing a Garden Centre, Floristry & Landscaping Services.
Personal objectives will be agreed either through a formal care assessment or by agreement with the service manager. An individual support plan will then be agreed with the person to detail how Bishopwearmouth Nursery will meet their objectives. The placement will be reviewed after six weeks then annually.
People can access supported Horticulture & Floristry Day opportunities.
People can gain experience in retail.
People can socialise & make new friends.
